Helping Dry Skin During Winter

Hello Lovely. Well it's that time of year when the cooler weather has kicked in and the fires and heaters are being turned on. Winter is a lovely time to cosy up and keep warm and I particularly love a nice hot drink to warm me up from the inside as well. The biggest down side to winter is going from cold air outside to lovely warm air inside is as it can be very drying on our skin, from our face to our hands and trying to find the right products to keep us hydrated can be challenging. First of all, keeping your water intake up will help to keep your skin hydrated but if you're like me and struggle to get that water in during the cooler weather then we have some topical options to help you out.

My personal favourite, use anywhere moisturizer to really lock in moisture is Weleda Skin Food. I have been using this amazing, super hydrating and penetrating cream for over two years now and it never ceases to amaze me how well it works for so many dry skin issues. What makes Skin Food so remarkable is it's rich ingredients of Sunflower Seed Oil, Lanolin and Sweet Almond Oil and it's truly beautiful scent comes from Linalool, Geraniol, Citral and Coumarin all from natural essential oils. This scent is lovely to the point you'll want to keep smelling it.

So how can you incorporate this rich cream into your routine? One of the best ways I've found is by using it as an overnight hydrating mask once a week. At times our skin needs an extra boost and I find this to be the case for most people during winter. Simpy wash and tone your face as usual and then apply a nice even layer of Skin Food to your face, neck and decolletage as these are the areas that dry out the most in both winter and summer. Leave on overnight and enjoy how wonderfully soft your skin is the next morning. You'll be amazed at how hydrated your skin is.

Most people also suffer from dry elbows and chapped hands during winter as well and this is again where Skin Food works its magic. After you've showered simply rub Skin Food into your elbows and use any excess as a hand moisturizer. I personally love applying Skin Food to my elbows and hands once I'm in bed. I started this routine over two years ago now as my elbows were cracking and I was amazed at the difference less than 24hrs made to soften the skin. After doing this for the last two years I absolutely never get dry elbows any more.

Another area Skin Food works wonders is on dry cracked heels and while this is usually an issue more in the summer months due to being barefoot, it can be an ongoing year round issue for some people. Once you've washed your feet simply apply the Skin Food to the heels of your feet concentrating on the cracked areas. You will notice a difference quickly. I find it's best to do this treatment in the evening as you can then pop some slippers or bed socks on and keep the moisture in to heal those heels.

So there you have it lovely, a few simple ways Weleda Skin Food can help you get through the challenging cooler weather, leaving you feeling hydrated and refreshed. You can find Skin Food over on our Shop page and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
